Iโm excited to bring my favorite comics to one of my favorite venues in my neighborhood.โ Placone has been a touring comedian for 15 years, with a recent international focus. Since moving to San Pedro, he loves testing new material at Grand Vision Foundationโs (GVF) Open Mic night at the Grand Annex Music Hall, a 150-seat cabaret-style venue in the heart of San Pedroโs arts district.

Placone recently teamed up with GVF with hopes of bringing a regular headliner comedy series to the Annex. The series kicks off with comedian Stephanie Blum on Saturday, October 21, 2023. GVF Artistic Director Taran Schindler enthusiastically commented, โthe Annex is an intimate space – itโs really perfect for stand-up. Weโve been presenting live music since 2008, now teaming up with Ron will set us on track to develop a solid comedy series alongside our concert line-up.โ
About Stephanie Blum: Comedian Stephanie Blum has brought audiences into hysterics with her brutally honest stand up. As a mother of three and former school psychologist, this street smart Brooklyn native rips into her favorite subjects including marriage, parenting, dieting and life in general.
Blum is a major touring artist, headlining on the Holland America CruiseLine and at well known venues around the country including Mohegan Sun Casino; The Comedy Store and The Ice House in Los Angeles as well as the Comic Strip, Carolines, Gotham Comedy Club in New York and many more. Her TV appearances include features on HBOโs Comedy Minutes, Discovery Family’s Babies Behaving Badly, Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. Blum was crowned Ladies of Laughterโs New Yorkโs Funniest Female and has been selected to perform at premier US comedy festivals including HBOโs U.S. Comedy Arts Festival and the New England Comedy Festival.
