About Recorders in Schools This year-long program, designed for fifth graders, provides weekly musical skill-building. In partnership with classroom teachers, Grand Vision teaching artists lead students in 24 sequential weekly classes in recorder playing technique, reading music notation, and ensemble performance, culminating in a school recital for peers and parents. Included professional development empowers classroom teachers to connect the Meet the Music curriculum to history, culture, and mathematics.

Grand Vision Foundation’s Meet the Music is supported, in part, by the California Arts Council, Chorus America, Crail-Johnson Foundation, the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, Kenneth T. & Eileen L. Norris Foundation, City of L.A. Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, Pasadena Show House for the Arts, and U.S. Bank Foundation.
