Sean at Music By The Sea 2022

Delta blues band Sean Lane and the Hellhounds will make their debut at the Grand Annex Music Hall on September 28!

Sean is connected to a place that has been central in the development of American music โ€” his family is from New Orleans, located in the south of the Mississippi Delta, where Delta blues got its origins during the Civil War. Rooted in the experiences of enslaved African Americans, the Delta blues blend field songs, spirituals and other folk traditions that result in a powerful and emotive musical form. It gained popularity in the 1920s, especially following The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, when many musicians turned to Delta blues and shaped the genre as a form of expression and storytelling.

Despite Seanโ€™s familyโ€™s southern origins, he is very local and has dedicated himself to the San Pedro and South Bay area! He taught in the theater department at Marymount College and has performed at Music By The Sea, San Pedro Brewing Co., Babouch Moroccan Restaurant and First Thursdays ArtWalk. In 2017, he performed โ€œA Musical History of the Bluesโ€ at Alvas, where he taught about and honored the genreโ€™s beginnings and founding artists.
