Meet Kokol from Mauritius. Kokol is a master of Mauritius’ creole musical heritage and plays the ravann, the djembe and the guitar. He is at the frontlines of a new musical movement dedicated to uniting cultures from the Caribbean and Indian Oceans. The new sound mixes Mauritian sega with reggae – genres that are associated with marginalized islander communities and slave ancestry.

See Kokol perform with Small Island Big Song on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Warner Grand Theatre in a night of uplifting traditional and contemporary oceanic grooves, soulful island ballads, and spoken word. Click here to purchase tickets
