Saving the Oceans and Ourselves One Island at a Time

Lecture by Dr. Gregory Stone

Dr. Gregory S. Stone is an internationally recognized ocean scientist, explorer, author and conservationist. Among his achievements, he co-founded the Ocean Health Index, is an architect of the first large open-ocean protected area, the Phoenix Islands Protected Area, and is a founder and trustee for Pole-to-Pole Conservation, a nonprofit that focuses on restoring a sustainable balance between the ocean and people, with an emphasis on Pacific Island indigenous cultures.

At Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, Dr. Stone will draw from his decades of experience and thousands of dives to explain how the ocean works as our primary life support system and he will delve into the dangerous shifts he sees in this vital network due to climate change.
