Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has selected Grand Vision Foundation as a 2024 grant recipient in support of its Meet the Music (MTM) in-school music education program. This is the fourth year that Pasadena Showcase has chosen MTM for this grant, which will fund a portion of programming at eight Title I schools during the 2024-25 academic year. Because our local schools aren’t able to provide music education at each grade level, Grand Vision steps in with MTM, ensuring that all students can participate.

Grand Vision is proud to nurture the next generation through MTM – by providing equitable access to music education. Our teaching artists, who are also professional musicians, visit classrooms weekly to teach performance skills and prepare students for end-of-year recitals. MTM includes every child because often those students who need the arts most are those who get left behind.

Music is a vital part of a well-rounded education with proven life-changing benefits. Through MTM, children learn confidence, empathy, collaboration, creativity and discipline. These skills can transfer to other subjects, like math and history, and set students up for success. Teachers report that the program keeps students engaged in school, and students report feeling more excited to go to school.

Thank you to Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts for helping Grand Vision provide another year of accessible music education to elementary school students in eight schools! Urianna R., a Meet the Music student shared, “I learned that playing an instrument helps me believe in myself. I love music, it helps me express myself.” With the support of Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, MTM can continue to educate children through the power of music.
