Grand Vision Foundation is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a Toolbox Grant from the Live Music Society.
The Live Music Society was launched in 2020 to provide financial relief for venues affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Its mission is to ensure that live music remains accessible to all; to provide vital financial support to emerging musicians and underserved communities; and sustain the careers of both established and under-recognized musicians. Grand Vision’s Toolbox Grant will be used to support audience development and outreach for the Grand Annex Music Hall.
The Grand Annex Music Hall (or Annex), Grand Vision’s intimate concert venue, was founded in 2008, with the goal of creating a listening room environment where high-quality sound and experience for both audience and performers were the utmost priority. The Annex has played a vital role in transforming the LA Harbor/South Bay community into an active arts district and popular destination. When the Annex reopened in 2021, after Covid-19 restrictions were lifted, Grand Vision realized that to ensure its sustainability, the organization would need to increase outreach and programming efforts to bring in returning and new music fans.

One direction that Grand Vision is taking to grow and diversify audiences is the Emerging Artists series, which started in 2021. This concert series provides young and emerging musicians a public stage and the supportive audiences needed to hone their craft and further develop their music. “In 2024, the Grand Annex turns 15! It has become a space where musicians can develop their careers and audiences are united by creative experiences. The recognition and support from the Live Music Society is important,” says Taran Schindler, Grand Vision’s Deputy & Artistic Director. “It strengthens our capacity to welcome new artists and audiences as we move into the future.”
The Toolbox Grant will assist Grand Vision in its efforts to reach out to and serve audiences of multiple generations. “Grand Vision would like to thank the Live Music Society for their investment in our mission,” says Executive Director Liz Schindler Johnson. “We will continue to inspire and engage our diverse community through arts and cultural experiences at the Grand Annex Music Hall.”
