Team Taiko Community Drumming Classes

We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us!

Taiko is a Japanese drumming style that, over the last several decades, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay.

Taiko Artist ManMan Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility, body awareness, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team.

Team Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities, from beginners to seasoned musicians, and fees are on a sliding scale. Recommended for ages 12 and up, children must participate with a guardian or have a signed participation waiver.

2026 Team Taiko Tuition $10-$28 per Class

Team Taiko is designed to be $15 per person, but we don’t want economic circumstances to be a barrier to attending so we offer tickets on a sliding scale. Pay the price that works for you. Your class experience will be the same regardless of which option you choose.

Dear Team Taiko Friends,

Please know that ManMan is an international artist and teacher whom we wish to pay a respectful wage for their valuable teaching time.

Most Los Angeles area taiko class rates are $25 at the door and $17 in advance. We would deeply appreciate it if you could pay the modest tuition minimum of $10.

However, if you truly cannot, please email Christa@grandvision.org to explain your need for a scholarship and why taiko is important to you. This information will only be shared with Grand Vision’s taiko staff. If approved, you will pay the scholarship rate of $5 a session.

Thank you,

Liz Johnson,
Executive Director, Grand Vision Foundation
