A Huge Thank you to the California Arts Council!
Despite the many challenges Grand Vision and other nonprofit organizations are facing this year, including government cutbacks, Meet the Music continues to serve kids in our community with exciting educational music programs.
We are deeply grateful for the government funding that remains, and in these challenging times, we are working harder than ever to continue serving students in need who benefit so much from making music.
We have also been selected to receive two grants from the California Arts Council: an Arts and Youth Grant and an Operational Grant for 2025-2026. These funds will help sustain our Meet the Music education program and help Grand Vision continue its work strengthening the San Pedro and greater Los Angeles community through the arts.
This essential support allows Meet the Music to provide the joy of making music to students. The California Arts Council’s Arts and Youth grant program is rooted in its belief that arts education should be available to all young people in California. They recognize that access to meaningful and culturally responsive arts experiences helps youth develop a greater sense of self, deepen their connection to their communities and make meaningful connections across histories and cultures.
This year’s funding to Grand Vision will support Meet the Music’s Roots of Music Program (RoMP), which introduces young learners to the world of music while building creative and social-emotional skills and supporting engagement in school.
California Arts Council’s Operational Grant will support the everyday activities of Grand Vision Foundation, including basic overhead costs. Grand Vision Foundation also operates the Grand Annex Music Hall and produces public arts events for the community. This grant will help Grand Vision continue to inspire and engage the diverse Los Angeles Harbor/South Bay community through culturally inclusive arts experiences such as concerts, Open Mics, Team Taiko community drumming, First Thursday Open House “Art Saloons” and more.
Grand Vision believes that local arts have the power to bridge cultural boundaries and unite our community. Even in challenging times, we are keeping the music alive at the Grand Annex Music Hall, in our schools and in our community. This would not be possible without the generous support of all our funders and donors like you!
