Grand Vision Foundation is honored to be selected for a 2024 grant from the Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation. This recognition marks the beginning of a partnership between the two organizations, both of whom share a commitment to enriching the lives of children through arts-based education.

The Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation, known for its dedication to supporting quality arts education for disadvantaged children in Los Angeles County, selected Grand Vision’s Meet the Music (MTM) program as a match for its mission. The foundation’s focus on arts programs that enhance students’ artistic skills, academic performance, and attitudes toward learning aligns seamlessly with the objectives of MTM.
Launched in 2009, MTM provides equitable access to music education for elementary school students, particularly those in low-income, Title I schools throughout Los Angeles County. Under the leadership of Education Program Manager Sukari Reid-Glenn, the program employs a team of professional musicians who serve as teaching artists. These artists bring their expertise into the classroom, offering students not only high-quality instruction but also the opportunity to envision a future within the creative economy.
MTM’s impact extends beyond music education; it integrates seamlessly with other core subjects like history, math, and social studies. A classroom teacher shared, “I had several students who didn’t necessarily understand math and weren’t very confident. Towards the end of the program, those students were thriving with math, specifically with fractions.”
Grand Vision is proud to be recognized for the success of Meet the Music and looks forward to continuing our newfound relationship with the Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation. This grant will help continue the vital work of bringing high-quality music education to students who need it most.
