A Little More About Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman

Kathy’s father, Frederick Kohner, wrote Gidget: The Little Girl with Big Ideas in 1957 based on her teenage adventures surfing in Malibu. The book’s massive popularity spread the surf craze across the nation. In 1959, Columbia Pictures, where Frederick Kohner had been a screenwriter, adapted the novel into a film starring Sandra Dee. The Gidget franchise has spanned several films and a television series with many actresses portraying the surfer including Sally Field.
