Happy birthday Warner Grand Theatre! 92 Looks good on you.

On January 20, 1931, Warner Brothers opened their magnificent San Pedro Theatre to a star-studded crowd with back-to-back sold-out shows.

In 1996 the Grand Vision Foundation was formed to save and reactivate the Warner Grand Theatre. Grand Vision incorporated and successfully advocated for the City of Los Angeles to purchase the Theatre.

Today, the City of Los Angelesโ€™ Department of Cultural Affairs owns and operates the Theatre, and Grand Vision has a Memorandum of Understanding to act as its official Friendsโ€™ Group. As the Friends, we assist the theater with advocacy, a corps of trained volunteers, restoration projects, and the marketing of its events.

Looking ahead to Summer 2023, The Warner Grand Theatre will temporarily close for a multimillion-dollar, first-phase restoration on June 30, 2023, funded by its owner, the City of Los Angeles, and managed by the Department of Cultural Affairs. The project includes a much-needed lobby elevator, upgrades to the restrooms, backstage, main lobby, ADA, electrical/plumbing systems and more. The renovation is expected to take two years once construction begins. For further information on the restoration, contact Performing Arts Center Director Lee Sweet at 310.548.2493 and/or find construction updates on Facebook @dca.warnergrandtheatre.
