Friends of the Warner Grand
Friends of the Warner Grand
Grand Vision Foundation was formed by a group of concerned citizens in the mid-nineties to save and reactivate the Warner Grand Theatre, an art deco movie palace in downtown San Pedro. In 1996, Grand Vision successfully advocated for the City of Los Angeles to purchase the Theatre. The City’s Department of Cultural Affairs operates the Theatre, and Grand Vision has a Memorandum of Understanding to act as its official Friends Group. As the Friends, we assist the theater with advocacy, a corps of trained volunteers, restoration projects and the marketing of its events.
Friends Group Activities
Promotion
The Warner Grand Theatre is run by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Events are produced by individual renters. As the Friends Group, Grand Vision supports renters by marketing all public events put on in the theatre.
Restoration
Grand Vision’s restoration work preserves the theatre while outfitting it for 21st Century productions. From restoring frescos to upgrading lighting and projection, Grand Vision is ensuring the theatre can be enjoyed by generations to come.
Advocacy
We love sharing the Warner Grand and its history through our docent program, our historical restoration blog, and advocating for the theatre in our local community and beyond. Volunteer and get to know other community members that care.
