Workshop Description:
Every taiko journey is shaped by the rhythms we inherit, the communities we join, and the experiences that transform us along the way. Whether you’ve recently attended a taiko gathering, conference, or intensive—or simply find yourself at a new stage in your practice—we collect new techniques, perspectives, and possibilities. Yet after the echoes of those experiences fade, a quiet question remains:

How do we come home to our own drumming?

This workshop is an invitation to slow down and listen—to the rhythms within, to the stories carried in our bodies, and to the intentions that guide our practice. Through journaling, intention-setting, and reflective discussion, we’ll explore the idea of “home” in taiko practice.

As we encounter new techniques, perspectives, teachers, and fellow drummers, how do we integrate these experiences into our own expression? What does it mean to return home to your drumming, and how have these experiences changed the way you play, lead, and connect? How do we carry what we’ve learned with gratitude while remaining rooted in our own voice, our own community, and our own path?

Together, we’ll reflect on how intentional practice can help us synthesize what we’ve learned, honor where we’ve come from, and move forward with greater clarity and purpose. We’ll also explore how cultivating a sense of personal safety, grounding, and ease can become a wellspring for creativity, authenticity, and artistic growth.

This workshop offers space for self-discovery, meaningful conversation, and intentional reflection, inviting you to deepen not only your connection to taiko, but also to yourself and your community.
