Marimba Magic – Workshop and Show with Grita Marimba and Masanga Marimba
Join in a fun afternoon of marimba magic with Masanga Marimba and opener, Grita Marimba! Come early for a marimba workshop.
Masanga Marimba plays a family-friendly blend of traditional and pop music from Africa and Latin America. The SoCal-based ensemble features seven Zimbabwean marimbas, vocals, drums, percussion and brass. They’ve performed at the Hollywood Bowl, the Getty Center, and the Ford Amphitheatre, and have opened for renowned artists such as Neil Young, Norah Jones, and Ziggy Marley.
Grita Marimba (pictured), the premier youth marimba ensemble from Play Marimba in Sonoma County, opens the show. Hear former students-turned-performers who embody the Play Marimba program’s success.
