Trailblazing all-women quintet deliver sparkling, powerful and irresistible Country-Americana! Mustangs of the West first made waves at the famed Palomino club in the late 1980s, when it was ground zero for the post-cowpunk California country scene.
After a 20-year hiatus, founding member and lead guitarist Sherry Rayn Barnett reunited the group with original members Suzanna Spring (lead vocalist/songwriter/acoustic guitarist) and Holly Montgomery (bassist/vocalist). The new lineup was finalized with Aubrey Richmond (fiddle/mandolin/vocals) and Suzanne Morissette Cruz (drums/percussion/vocals).
With their new Americana country sound, their albums — the first of which was produced by the acclaimed Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris) — have received excellent reviews. Their 2024 record “Down At The Palomino” topped the Roots Radio Report charts for 18 weeks.
Last year, the group performed at SXSW as official artists, AmericanaFest in Nashville, and headlined at The Bankhead Theatre in Northern California. This year, they returned to Nashville for live shows at 3rd & Lindsley and on WMOT-FM (billed with Chris Smither).
