Meet Sofia Nena, Grand Vision’s new Concert and Events Intern. Sofia comes to us through the LA County Department of Arts & Culture Internship program.* She is playing an essential role in caring for the facility and helping each week to prepare the Grand Annex venue for concerts and events.
This past spring, Sofia graduated from CSU Long Beach with a B.S. in Biology (not to mention three associates degrees from El Camino College!) While at CSULB, Sofia interned at the Roundhouse Aquarium Teaching Center in Manhattan Beach where she found a love for animal husbandry and an interest in event programming and planning.
Sofia grew up in San Pedro, graduating from Port of Los Angeles High School just down the street from the Grand Annex Music Hall and is excited to give back to the local community. She’s passionate about marine life, especially sea jellies and nudibranchs (aka sea slugs!) She loves music, especially The Killers, Tyler the Creator and Arctic Monkeys, and in her free time enjoys crocheting and spending time with her friends and family.
*The LA County Arts Internship program provides undergraduate students with internships at nonprofit arts organizations throughout the county. Since 2009, Grand Vision has been a proud participant, annually hosting one to two interns and providing them with meaningful on-the-job training and experience working in the nonprofit sector.
