SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Winter Session
DESCRIPTION:Team Taiko classes are offered in-person and via Zoom. Participants can purchase a pack of 8 classes or a single class. Team Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians. Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must either participate with a guardian or have a participation waiver signed before class. \nWinter Session classes meet on Mondays at 7 PM February 3 – March 24 \nIN-PERSON: $136 for 8 classes / $20 individual class. ZOOM CLASS: $120 for 8 classes / $17 individual class. Scholarships are available. \nTo Attend In Person: \n\nPlease bring water and wear comfortable clothes. Taiko is a full-body practice\nDrumstick (bachi) will be provided for you.\n\nTo Attend Virtually: \n\nThe Zoom link will be emailed to you with your receipt.\nLearn how to make your own practice drum here.

DESCRIPTION:Musicians & Poets!\n\nCome on down to the Grand Annex on the second Thursday of each month for Open Mic Night!\n\nHosted by: Ken Creighton\n\nTo perform:\n\nSign ups start at 6:30 PM.\nThe first 12 sign-ups are guaranteed to perform\, with additional artists as time allows.\nPlan to do 2 songs/poems (limit stage time to under 8 minutes).\nMicrophones\, D.I.\, music stand and a keyboard are available. If you will be performing with a backing track\, you can use the aux cord to connect your smartphone to the sound system. The Aux cord is compatible with Apple devices that use a lightning connector.\nThis is an all-ages show; all ages and genres are welcome to perform.\n\nTo keep the space welcoming for all ages\, please keep your act appropriate for all ages. Avoid rants\, blue comedy and punching down. Inappropriate acts will be removed from the stage and banned from future performances.

In 2023\, he opened for Neil Young’s Coastal Tour and his albums\, “American Silence” (2021) and “Let All Who Will” (2023) have both garnered critical acclaim from NPR and Rolling Stone. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Pierce recently performed at the Kennedy Center and the Newport Folk Fest and he has shared stages with legends including B.B. King\, Seal and Al Green. In addition to his solo work\, Pierce performs with his new roots band\, Leon Creek; with Sunny War as the folk-soul group\, War & Pierce; and as a special guest with the Black Opry.

His pioneering band perfectly combines his love for music\, the sea and the legacy of the seafaring storytelling. And\, just so we’re all clear\, in addition to being a multi-instrumentalist and lead guitar player\, John Kraus really is a captain – for many years at the helm of one of the LA Maritime Institute’s stunning Tall Ships! \nThe Goers are: Tim Weed on violin\, David Dutton on the drums and jazz legend Bob Aul on fiddle and tuba. Paul Givant of Rose’s Pawn Shop shows up frequently to play guitar and banjo.
