SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Fall Session
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians. Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must either participate with a guardian or have a participation waiver signed before class. \nClasses are offered in person and streamed live via Zoom to allow for all to participate. \n  \nFall Session Mondays at 7 PM September – October\nTeam Taiko classes are broken into 7-week sessions\, with a different pattern taught during each session. Team Taiko can be purchased by session or by class. \n\nMonday\, September 9 – 7 PM\nMonday\, September 16 – 7 PM\nMonday\, September 23 – 7 PM\nMonday\, September 30 – 7 PM\nMonday\, October 7 – 7 PM\nMonday\, October 21 – 7 PM\nMonday\, October 28 – 7 PM\n\nAbout Class Fees & Sliding Scale: \nTeam Taiko is designed to be $15 per person\, but we don’t want economic circumstances to be a barrier to attending so we offer tickets on a sliding scale. Pay the price that works for you. Your class experience will be the same regardless of which option you choose. \nTo Attend in Person: \n\nPlease bring water and wear comfortable clothes. Avoid rants\, blue comedy and punching down. Inappropriate acts will be removed from the stage and banned from future performances.\nMicrophones\, D.I.\, music stand and keyboard available. DESCRIPTION:Called a “keyboard wizard” by The New Yorker\, Bob Malone has amassed a loyal international fan base through over 25 years of touring and nine critically acclaimed album releases. He played keyboards for John Fogerty for 12 years and has been a session player for Fogerty\, Ringo Starr and Avril Lavigne. Universal Pictures featured Malone’s recording of “You’re A Mean One\, Mr. Grinch” in the promotional trailers for their 2018 film “The Grinch.” More about Bob’s touring and studio work \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Along with the best of his catalog of bluesy rockers and cathartic piano ballads\, Bob’s live shows feature classic anthems by Fleetwood Mac\, The Band\, Creedence Clearwater Revival\, Bob Dylan and others transformed into foot-stomping displays of keyboard pyrotechnics. MusicRiot UK says\, “His solo work pulls in elements from classical\, soul\, blues\, rock\, funk and jazz into a glorious fusion that’s pure Bob Malone.” \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				French disco pop duo Rosaway will be opening the show! Vocalist and flutist Rachel Ombredane has worked as a backing vocalist for Ed Sheeran and Jain and is a leading figure in electro-acoustic flute internationally. Drummer Stéphane “SteF” Avellaneda is internationally acclaimed\, having toured over 35 countries as Ana Popovic’s official drummer. He has shared the stage with blues legends like BB King and Buddy Guy\, and was named one of the Top 5 Blues Drummers in 2015.

They are also featured in Playing for Change’s award-winning documentary “A Cinematic Discovery of Street Music\,” which showcased and brought together musicians from across the world. For half of Los Pinguos\, this will be their second time at The Grand Annex — in April 2024\, they performed here as part of Twanguero & Los Silverbacks’ sold out show!
