SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Summer Session
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians. Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must either participate with a guardian or have a participation waiver signed before class. \nClasses are offered in person and streamed live via Zoom to allow for all to participate. \n  \nSummer Session Mondays at 7 PM June – July\nTeam Taiko classes are broken into 8-week sessions\, with a different pattern taught during each session. Team Taiko can be purchased by session or by class. \n\nMonday\, June 3 – 7 PM\nMonday\, June 10 – 7 PM\nMonday\, June 17 – 7 PM\nMonday\, June 24 – 7 PM\nMonday\, July 1 – 7 PM\nMonday\, July 8 – 7 PM\nMonday\, July 15 – 7 PM\nMonday\, July 22 – 7 PM\n\n  \nAbout Class Fees & Sliding Scale: \nTeam Taiko is designed to be $15 per person\, but we don’t want economic circumstances to be a barrier to attending so we offer tickets on a sliding scale. Pay the price that works for you. Your class experience will be the same regardless of which option you choose. \nTo Attend in Person: \n\nPlease bring water and wear comfortable clothes. With a voice that can be described as both haunting and angelic\, Coyle’s lyrics express her stories as first generation American\, and an openly queer artist\, who fought to celebrate her identity growing up in Orange County\, California. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Gravitating towards music at an early age\, she learned classical violin and then ultimately the electric guitar\, where she began to define her style as a songwriter. \nHer 2021 debut studio EP\, Songs For My Therapist received recognition and acclamation from a list of publications that include The Los Angeles Times\, Atwood Magazine\, and Guitar Girl Magazine for creating “poetic and moody music that speaks to your soul” \nMore recently she performed for Apple TV+ at the advanced screening of Flora and Son\, an Irish film directed by John Carney (Once\, Begin Again\, Sing Street). They quickly captivated audiences with their soulful voice\, intimate songwriting\, and unique sound drawing on pop and jazz. \nDanielle’s music has been heard on KCRW and live at legendary Los Angeles venues like the Hotel Cafe. They’ve performed as an opening act for Grammy-nominated band The Marías and continue to play shows to a growing\, enthusiastic fanbase. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Danielle also runs a live music series in Los Angeles called Queersound\, showcasing talented artists from the LGBTQ+ community. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Opener: Mary Ives \nCalifornia native Mary Ives is an independent artist with soulful vocals\, thought-provoking lyrics\, and a bohemian production style. Raised on a steady diet of Jackson Browne\, Joni Mitchell\, and James Taylor\, Ives’ voice developed into a reflection of her earliest influences: Laurel Canyon folk-rock\, contemporary gospel\, and 60’s pop.
