SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Spring Session
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians. Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must either participate with a guardian or have a participation waiver signed before class. \nClasses are offered in person and streamed live via Zoom to allow for all to participate. \n  \nSpring Session Mondays at 7 PM March – May\nTeam Taiko classes are broken into 8-week sessions\, with a different pattern taught during each session. Team Taiko can be purchased by session or by class. \n\nMonday\, March 25 – 7 PM\nMonday\, April 1 – 7 PM\nMonday\, April 8 – 7 PM\nMonday\, April 15 – 7 PM\nMonday\, April 22 – 7 PM\nMonday\, April 29 – 7 PM\nMonday\, May 6 – 7 PM\nMonday\, May 13 – 7 PM\n\n  \nAbout Class Fees & Sliding Scale: \nTeam Taiko is designed to be $15 per person\, but we don’t want economic circumstances to be a barrier to attending so we offer tickets on a sliding scale. Pay the price that works for you. Your class experience will be the same regardless of which option you choose. \nTo Attend in Person: \n\nPlease bring water and wear comfortable clothes. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we play and dance our hearts out! \nWe are pleased to announce that Grand Vision Foundation’s Meet the Music students from local partner schools will be featured in a free live community performance in San Pedro during May’s First Thursday ArtWalk. Led by a Grand Vision teaching artist over 24 weekly classes\, students have learned to play an instrument\, read music\, and perform. The program also integrated music into history\, culture\, and math! \nThis performance is free and open to all\, no tickets or RSVP required. \nThis event is made possible in part by support from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs\, LA County Department of Arts and Culture and the California Arts Council.

DESCRIPTION:Doors open early at 6:45 PM for a pre-concert workshop\, “Intro to Songwriting” with Abby Posner and Joselyn (of Joselyn & Don) (7:00 PM-7:45 PM). Concert starts at 8:00 PM. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Abby is a multi-instrumentalist and winner of the Annual 2023 USA Songwriting Competition. She is known for her incredibly versatile musicianship\, superfun live shows\, and commercial scores.  \nHer music is featured in TV\, films\, and radio shows around the world. You can hear her on The Fosters\, This American Life\, and Last Tango in Halifax to name a few – plus custom songs for Facebook\, and Viacom-CBS. She also performed in two episodes of the TV hit\, Glee and in the ad campaign for Ken Burn’s PBS Country Music Documentary. \nAt the Annex with her full band; the Big Fall! \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Opener: Joselyn & Don \nJoselyn & Don’s intoxicating music feels like a walk through nature – where blues\, folk\, and jazz form an understory illuminated with lyrical truth. The duo’s 2020 debut album “Soar” and 2022 EP “Seeds & Bones” have been warmly received by critics and added to over 200 independent radio stations worldwide\, reaching number 5 on Roots Music Report’s Americana Album Chart and the Top 100 of the Americana Music Association’s album chart. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				☆Roots & Rambles Workshop: Intro to Songwriting \nThe songwriting workshop will be led by Abby Posner and Joselyn Wilkinson.
