SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Winter Session
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians. Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must either participate with a guardian or have a participation waiver signed before class. \nClasses are offered in person and streamed live via Zoom to allow for all to participate. \n  \nWinter Session Mondays at 7 PM January – February\nTeam Taiko classes are broken into 8-week sessions\, with a different pattern taught during each session. Team Taiko can be purchased by session or by class. \n\nMonday\, January 8 – 7 PM\nMonday\, January 15 – 7 PM\nMonday\, January 22 – 7 PM\nMonday\, January 29 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 5 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 12 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 19 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 26 – 7 PM\n\n  \nAbout Class Fees & Sliding Scale: \nTeam Taiko is designed to be $15 per person\, but we don’t want economic circumstances to be a barrier to attending so we offer tickets on a sliding scale. Pay the price that works for you. Your class experience will be the same regardless of which option you choose. \nTo Attend in Person: \n\nPlease bring water and wear comfortable clothes. Taiko is a full-body practice\nDrumstick (bachi) will be provided for you.\n\nTo Attend Virtually: \n\nThe Zoom link will be emailed to you with your receipt.\nLearn how to make your own practice drum here.

Renee is an award-winning versatile rock\, blues\, and jazz vocalist. Known best for her work with Andy Hill and their band Hard Rain\, Safier has played her guitar and sung her heart out to devoted folk-rock fans for decades. \nBob Malone is known for his high-energy piano-playing hybrid of rock\, pop\, and blues. He’s has toured with John Fogerty since 2011\, done session work with Ringo Starr and Avril Lavigne and has amassed his own a loyal fan-base through 25 years of touring and nine critically acclaimed albums. The New Yorker called Bob\, a “keyboard wizard” and in 2018\, his recording of “You’re A Mean One\, Mr. Grinch” was featured in the trailer for the Illumination/Universal film\, The Grinch.
