SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Winter Session
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians. Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must either participate with a guardian or have a participation waiver signed before class. \nClasses are offered in person and streamed live via Zoom to allow for all to participate. \n  \nWinter Session Mondays at 7 PM January – February\nTeam Taiko classes are broken into 8-week sessions\, with a different pattern taught during each session. Team Taiko can be purchased by session or by class. \n\nMonday\, January 8 – 7 PM\nMonday\, January 15 – 7 PM\nMonday\, January 22 – 7 PM\nMonday\, January 29 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 5 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 12 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 19 – 7 PM\nMonday\, February 26 – 7 PM\n\n  \nAbout Class Fees & Sliding Scale: \nTeam Taiko is designed to be $15 per person\, but we don’t want economic circumstances to be a barrier to attending so we offer tickets on a sliding scale. Pay the price that works for you. Your class experience will be the same regardless of which option you choose. \nTo Attend in Person: \n\nPlease bring water and wear comfortable clothes. As the leader of the John Jorgenson Quintet (JJQ) his musicality and virtuosity absolutely shine. The group’s style is inspired by the dynamic string-driven swing created by Django Reinhardt in Paris in the 1930s\, yet Jorgenson’s compositions draw additionally from Latin\, Romanian\, Greek\, classical\, and rock music. \nJJQ is the only American act to ever headline the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in France and has been featured at Django-celebrating festivals around the world. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				In addition to his jazz laurels\, Jorgenson toured for six years with Elton John\, won a country music Grammy\, and has collaborated with pretty much everyone from Barbra Streisand to Bonnie Raitt\, from Brad Paisley to Luciano Pavarotti. \nNo Depression music magazine says\, “John Jorgenson has a rare kind of genius in that he’s equally comfortable and capable of playing Buck Owens\, Beatles riffs\, or jazz leads…”
