Lots of fun surprises are also in store. \nThis year\, the headliners are PONCHO SANCHEZ\, one of the most influential percussionists in music today and TONY TERRY\, R&B singing sensation out of Atlanta. \nYou can also look forward to Jazz in Pink\, an all women jazz ensemble\, John Stanley King and his band from Palm Desert\, The Scorch Sisters with a tribute to Janis Joplin\, The Foundation with a tribute to the O’Jays plus the amazing jazzy stylings of singer Windy Barnes and more. SUMMARY:TEAM TAIKO Drum Classes Fall Session
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. Avoid rants\, blue comedy and punching down. Inappropriate acts will be removed from the stage and banned from future performances.\nMicrophones\, D.I.\, music stand and keyboard available. You can use the aux cord to connect your smartphone if you will be performing with a backing track. San Pedro has had a long history with Hollywood that goes back to the silent film era and continues to this day. Join us for an entertaining evening as we journey through San Pedro and point out a few of the notable films\, TV shows\, and commercials that have made San Pedro their backdrop. The evening will be hosted by Joshua Stecker\, publisher of San Pedro Today magazine and president of the SPHM. Special guests include Kris Bunting\, a San Pedro resident and film location manager.
