Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. Audiences are awestruck by not only his skillful guitar playing\, but the solo clarinet and bouzouki as well. \nCasey Driscoll\, fiddle player and Patuxent Music recording artist\, he studied with Buddy Spicher and Frank Maloy. \nRory Hoffman is an award-winning Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist. DESCRIPTION:Team Taiko is Grand Vision Foundation’s signature community music-making program. \nWe believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Making music makes a community! Classes are open to all skill levels\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to a variety of locations in San Pedro and Wilmington. \nFall Session:\nMondays at 7pm September-October 2022\nTaiko Artist ManMan Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nClasses are offered in-person and streamed live via zoom to allow for all to participate safely. \nIF YOU ATTEND IN PERSON\, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SAFETY MEASURES \nFor everyone’s safety and health\, face masks during Taiko. All attendees ages 2+ must show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination\, a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours\, or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours. Attendees ages 18+ must show a valid ID along with proof of vaccination.
