Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. Hear Pride and Joy\, Crossfire\, House is a Rockin’\, Texas Flood and many more. \nWhen Stevie Ray Visited bandleader Roby Duron was 12\, his dad\, a rockin’ Doors-influenced pianist\, taught him to play a few chords\, igniting Duron’s love for playing the blues\, especially the music of Stevie Ray Vaughan. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Today\, Duron has mastered Vaughan’s style\, and the band’s keyboardist Noel Deis actually played with Vaughan himself\, adding even more authenticity to the Stevie Ray Visited live shows. Their first gig was held at the Palmdale Playhouse in 2019 to a sold-out audience\, and they’ve been selling out shows ever since\, including the Chrome Showroom in Las Vegas two years in a row.

DESCRIPTION:Swedish-based pop/folk singer-songwriter Sofia Talvik has toured the US\, playing Lollapalooza to SXSW. Her lyrical imagery and rootsy sound have drawn comparisons to Joni Mitchell and her songs are topping the charts in the US and Europe. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Ever since Sofia Talvik entered the music industry in 2005 with her debut album Blue Moon\, her brand of Americana has caught the ear of fans across Europe and the US. She is the first Swede to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2008 and has continued to play across the country including at the Folk Alliance International Conference. \nHer 2015 album Big Sky Country was named the 4th Best Americana Album by the UK newspaper The Telegraph. Her most recent album Paws of A Bear\, was recognized by Americana Highways as “solid gold from start to finish\,” and PopMatters praised its “beautiful soundscapes of subtle\, rootsy timbres.” \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Opener: Joel Reed Mankey\, folk musician \nMulti-instrumentalist\, songwriter\, composer and producer who first fell in love with folk music through his Irish roots and now plays an eclectic blend of original songs and folk music from around the world. Joel writes “simple songs about love\, and shakin’ butts and stuff.” He’s also “that guy in the sound booth” – one of the Annex’s most talented and beloved audio engineers. Joel will be joined by bassist\, singer and partner-in-whimsey Sean Fayecullen. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				🍺Pre-Concert Beer Sampling: \nTaste local beers at select concerts. Please come to the Grand Annex (434 W 6th St\, San Pedro) on October 1 to find some special treasures. \nThere will be audio and lighting gear\, art and office supplies\, kitchenware\, party decorations and other unique finds and curiosities. Most items will be priced between $1 – $15. There will also be a few musical instruments and accessories that will be priced significantly lower than retail rates. \nThe sale will be held in the back warehouse of the Annex at 434 W 6th Street\, San Pedro\, 90731 on Sunday\, October 1 from 9:30 AM to 2 PM. Parking is free on Sunday in the 5th Street lot between the AT&T building and the grocery store. Use the back entrance to the Annex (you’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the mural). \nPurchases made support all of Grand Vision’s creative and educational arts programs at the Grand Annex Music Hall\, at the Warner Grand Theatre and throughout the community.

DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. Batalla’s remarkable voice has been sought after for years\, enhancing the work of artists such as Lou Reed\, Jackson Browne and kd lang. \nKnown for her distinctively warm\, beautiful voice and culture-merging compositions\, Perla Batalla grew up surrounded by all genres and styles of Latin-American music at her parents’ record shop “Disocteca Batalla” in 1970s Venice\, California.  \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				After several years of touring as a back-up singer for Leonard Cohen\, Batalla started her solo career in the mid-90s with Cohen’s encouragement and mentorship. Fast forward to today and she has recorded 7 albums\, staged 2 one-woman shows\, been featured on film and TV and performed in prestigious venues around the world. San Jose Mercury News said\, “Batalla’s gorgeous\, rich\, contralto voice adds another layer of beauty to Cohen’s elegantly crafted songs.” \nIn addition to her widely-celebrated musical talent\, Perla is also dedicated to youth music education\, hoping to spread her love of the beauty of music and the Spanish language to children and young adults.
