DESCRIPTION:Little Italy of Los Angeles Association\, with support from Councilmember Joe Buscaino CD 15\, is proud to host the screening of Luciano Pavarotti’s 1970 performance of “Messa da Requiem” by Giuseppe Verdi \nThis free event is part of a multi-day celebration recognizing the late great tenor\, as he posthumously receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The screening will also include an official proclamation from the City of Los Angeles to the family of Pavarotti and a new short film\, “Luciano Pavarotti\, The Star” by the Italian artist and director\, Gianluigi Toccafondo. \nThe Pavarotti Family will be in attendance with James Conlon\, Music Director of LA Opera\, who will be introducing The Requiem to the public. The screening will also be attended by Representatives of Comune di Pesaro (Italian Capital of Culture in 2024)\, the Rossini Opera Festival and the Pesaro Capitale della Cultura Committee. \nFREE and open to the public with registration and Covid vaccination or proof of negative test with 48 hours before show. This event will contribute to strengthen the relationship that the San Pedro community has with Italy.

Through simple\, enchanting and irresistible motifs\, Bennato’s music leads into a journey touching on themes such as old and new migrations\, peace\, sharing\, respect and brotherhood. \nBorn in Naples\, Eugenio Bennato began his musical career in the 1970s\, when he founded “Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare”\, a group of traditional folk music. He has been a pivotal musician in Italy\, and instrumental to the popularity of artists in the “Scuola Napoletana” such as Pino Daniele\, his brother Edoardo Bennato\, and Tony Esposito to name a few. \nOrganized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles\, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles\, Councilman Joe Buscaino (LA 15th Council District)\, LILAA – Little Italy of Los Angeles Association and the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angeles. \n  \nCOVID POLICY Those who are 12 years and older must present printed or digital proof of full vaccination\, or printed or digital proof of a negative Covid-19 test result issued within the previous 72 hours. He faces a series of obstacles and temptations that challenge him to make the right decisions for his family. \nMeet the Waltrainians\, On her 13th birthday\, India (Madisson Soto)\, discovers that she is not from this world and must navigate her newfound identity while trying to keep her secret from those around her. \nThree Card Monte\, Charles Davis (Marques Davis) is a busy family man who’s always on the go. He works long hours at his job and rarely has time for his wife and kids. He takes his family for granted\, assuming that they’ll always be there for him no matter what. \nWe will also be showing a few monologues from our Youth Commercial Class students. \nCome and enjoy a night out with the DBFAA family.
