DESCRIPTION:Mikaela Kai Flamenco’s 16th Recital \nSPAIN – Sueño de Libertad \nDon’t miss the outstanding performance of native Barcelona flamenco artists\, Paco Arroyo and Yolanda Arroyo. Paco’s virtuoso playing guitar and Yolanda’s heart-moving dancing\, singing and transcendental technique in castanets will surely fascinate all audiences with a standing ovation. Three talented local flamenco dancers and MKF’s dancers and musicians will also be featured in the show. \nThis year’s theme is “Spain.” Flamenco is a folk art form that originated in the Andalusia region of southern Spain\, and the Romani\, a migratory people\, played a major role in its history and development. As an art form created by wandering peoples through a fusion of various music and rhythms\, it resonates with a diverse range of people\, bringing familiarity\, nostalgia and melancholy; in 2010\, it was included in UNESCO’s list of Spain’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. MKF is honored to be able to present this wonderful culture on stage through the art of flamenco\, an art they feel passionately about. His music has been featured in TV and movies like True Blood\, Pretty Little Liars\, The Angriest Man In Brooklyn and The Frozen Ground. \nfiNdings Art Center\, in collaboration with Grand Vision’s Annex Arts Saloon\, presents: “Night of the Makers\,” featuring artists Camilla Townsend\, Alan Johnson and Henry Krusoe. \nArt includes paintings\, furniture and sculptures\, united by the artists’ love for community\, art and San Pedro. \nCamilla Townsend is a multimedia artist who paints portraits and nature scenes inspired by poetry and the world around her. She was deeply influenced by her mentors\, Annette Ciketic and Corita Kent. \nAlan Johnson is a self-taught woodworker who creates original furniture and\, more recently\, sculptures\, all with an emphasis on organic forms. Experience mind-reading\, mentalism\, and sleight of hand with Sansa the Fortune Teller. Comedian and Magician Phil Van Tee\, a professor at Magic Castle’s Magic University\, will provide wonderment and laughter. \nGavin Braun and his Band present a splendorous up-tempo set\, part old-time swing and part French café to finish out the night. A versatile crooner and bandleader\, Braun brings to life the snappy and swell tunes of Tin Pan Alley and early Hollywood film scores. He’s making the rounds on the casino circuit and with gigs at the Catalina Jazz Club\, El Segundo Old Town Music Hall and the famous Cicada Club.
