DESCRIPTION:Musicians & Poets!\n\nCome on down to the Grand Annex on the second Thursday of each month for Open Mic Night!\n\nHosted by: Ken Creighton\n\nTo perform:\n\nSign ups start at 6:30 PM.\nThe first 12 sign-ups are guaranteed to perform\, with additional artists as time allows.\nPlan to do 2 songs/poems (limit stage time to under 8 minutes).\nMicrophones\, D.I.\, music stand and a keyboard are available. If you will be performing with a backing track\, you can use the aux cord to connect your smartphone to the sound system. The Aux cord is compatible with Apple devices that use a lightning connector.\nThis is an all-ages show; all ages and genres are welcome to perform.\n\nTo keep the space welcoming for all ages\, please keep your act appropriate for all ages. Avoid rants\, blue comedy and punching down. Inappropriate acts will be removed from the stage and banned from future performances.

SUMMARY:FREE Intro Class Team Taiko Japanese Drum Lessons
DESCRIPTION:Learn about Taiko and how to care for Taiko drums and bachi (drumsticks) and make your own practice drum in this FREE intro class. \nIf you will be participating virtually you will need a 5-gallon (or larger) bucket\, scotch tape\, and textured duct tape to make your practice drum. \nWe believe in creating unique opportunities for people to meet their neighbors and engage in their community in a new way. Come play with us! \nTaiko is a Japanese traditional drumming practice that\, over the last several decades\, has become a global phenomenon. Since 2013\, Grand Vision has partnered with leading taiko instructors to bring the art form to the South Bay. \nTaiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques and patterns. Sessions include developing rhythmic sensibility\, body awareness\, breath and strength training as students make music together as a team. \nTeam Taiko is open to all skill levels and abilities\, from beginners to seasoned musicians\, and fees are on a sliding scale. Recommended for ages 12 and up\, children must participate with a guardian or have a signed participation waiver. \nClasses are offered in person and streamed live via Zoom to allow for all to participate. \nTo attend in person: Please bring water and wear comfortable clothes. Taiko is a full-body practice. Drumstick (bachi) will be provided for you. \nTo attend virtually: The Zoom link will be emailed to you with your receipt. Learn how to make your own practice drum here. \n\n\n\n\n\nWinter Session Mondays at 7 PM February 3 – March 24:\nTeam Taiko classes are broken into 8-week sessions\, with a different pattern taught during each session.
